¡Vívela! Salsa Tour

2024 Announcement

This summer we will see you on Isla De Salsa!

Announcement about "¡Vívera! Salsa Tour 2024"

We will celebrate the memorable 25th edition of "ISLA DE SALSA" together with the representative Japanese salsa band, Orquesta De La Luz!

This year marks the commemorative 25th edition of Isla De Salsa. In previous years, we have invited top salsa orchestras from abroad, but this time, in a reversal of tradition, we have decided to invite "Orquesta De La Luz," a salsa orchestra representing Japan and active on the world stage, as the main band for this year's festival!

The Orquesta De La Luz, which has achieved remarkable success with accolades such as the United Nations Peace Prize ('93), Grammy Award nominations ('95), Special Prize at the Japan Record Awards ('91 & '93), New York Critics' Award ('91 & '92), tours in 23 countries worldwide, and appearances on NHK's "Kohaku Uta Gassen" ('93), as well as collaborations with Carlos Santana, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year! In May, the band will release their commemorative 40th-anniversary album "Más Caliente," featuring original songs and covers, with the participation of renowned artists from Japan and abroad including Maki Ohguro (Makita Gomez), Rose Toma, and Naoto Inti Raymi. Orquesta De La Luz, boasting immense popularity not only in Japan but also overseas, especially in the United States and Central and South America, truly represents Japan as a salsa band that is admired worldwide.

Since this year is special, this summer, we're taking a break from the tour and instead inviting everyone to gather on Nokoshima Island to celebrate the commemorative year of Isla De Salsa and Orquesta De La Luz together.
This summer we are waiting for you on Isla de Salsa!

25th Anniversary "ISLA DE SALSA 2024"

August 31st (Sat.) and September 1st (Sun.), 2024.

¡Vívela! History

Each summer since 2002, Latin culture center NPO Tiempo Iberoamericano based in Fukuoka-Japan, has been organizing a Asia-Pacific tour of the world's top-ranking salsa bands. "Enjoy life through music!" is the tour concept we want to shout out, encouraging people to do just that, and creating a space for genuine communication among people. Also embodied in the idea of a "salsa tour" is not just the musical genre "salsa,"but also the original meaning of the word, "sauce," which in this case implies a cultural mix of nationalities, generations and genders that draws beyond cultural divides to create new values in the heart of Asia-Pacific.
